Apple’s most recent iOS release, iOS 8.1.1, kills the Pangu jailbreak, but a few days back, we’d seen a demo of an untethered iOS 8.1.1 jailbreak from iH8sn0w. Chinese company Taig has now released an untethered jailbreak that claims to work with iOS 8.1.1 and even iOS 8.2 beta.
It isn’t known if the jailbreak is based on iH8sn0w’s exploit, but for now it’s wise to proceed with caution, as Taig is known for running an app store with pirated apps in China. The name Taig might be familiar to you, as it was the center of controversy when this pirated app store was bundled with evasi0n7, and later removed.
TaiG jailbreak is compatible with the following devices:
- iPod touch 5G
- iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus
- iPad 4, iPad mini, iPad mini 2, iPad mini 3, iPad, iPad Air, iPad Air 2
The tool works not only with iOS 8.1.1 and iOS 8.2 beta, but even with previous releases of iOS 8 — iOS 8.1. It’s however wise to continue using Pangu for those devices, as that tool has been found safe whereas we’re still waiting for a word on Taig’s jailbreak tool.
Taig’s untethered jailbreak is available from this link, and it is Windows only right now. While doing the jailbreak, remember to uncheck the box that installs the Taig pirated app store.
